Job Description :
Have a Bachelors degree in computer science, or any other equivalent degree with a minimum of seven (7) years of programming experience.
Have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in developing programs using Mainframe COBOL, DB2, CICS, MVS/TSO, JCL and related technologies.
Be proficient in writing programs using Mainframe COBOL, DB2, CICS, MVS/TSO, JCL, Batch & Online Mainframe COBOL, working with flat files in a COBOL Batch environment.
Be an expert in writing efficient SQL queries and using stored procedures in Mainframe DB2.
Have the ability to tune COBOL, DB2, CICS programs to increase performance.
Be an expert in deriving and understanding business rules by reviewing existing programming with little or no documentation.
Have good communication, documentation and user requirement gathering skills.
Be proficient in analyzing, debugging and testing programs.
Be a team player who can work with other contractors and permanent employees under a complex team structure.
Be proficient in gathering user requirements and creating Technical Specifications Document, Functional Specifications Document, Business Layer Document, User Interface Layer Document, etc.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
Experience working with DMV systems is a plus.
Experience in Sybase PowerBuilder, VB.net, asp.net is an added advantage although not a requirement for this position.
Consultants must be willing to learn on their own and work on the technologies mentioned above.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Consultant must perform all activities to the agreed upon project plan/schedule. Work must be completed according to the specifications and standards set by the State.
Consultants must be able to do the following:
Analyze code that has minimal documentation
Re-engineer code based on the need and assigned task
Attend JAD sessions; gather and document project requirements when assigned
Create new code following guidelines established by Nevada DMV
Maintain privacy and security of data
Provide necessary documents for change
Test code
Write efficient code
Work well with other members in the project;
Provide status reports as desired by the Project Lead
Prepare other project documents as required.
Organizing and identifying needed information from SMEs
Document and maintain real-time status at all times
Provide status reports on a regular basis and on demand
