Perform software installation and customer-facing production support functions for a highly scalable, data streaming, distributed open source application that is used within company and its external Customers.
Duties will include customer support, SW/HW build out, monitoring, recovery, ticket resolution, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, change control, scripting, application maintenance tasks and corrections, scheduling, production deployments and verification.
System environments include Solaris/Linux operation systems; Versant, MySQL & PostgreSQL databases, Tomcat, Postgres, Perl, and sFTP.
Required skills:
5 years of strong technical experience in UNIX and Unix shell scripting; Korn Shell, Tomcat; Object Oriented Programming, C++, sFTP
3-5 years of experience in production support environment
Strong communication skills required to interface with customers (able to delicately / appropriately handle customer concerns while solving a problem)
Strong troubleshooting skills - out-of-the-box thinking
Excellent writing skills to accurately/concisely document application issues and summarize for management and customer
Excellent writing skills for creating support documentation for software rollouts
Ability to work independently but is a good team player (Changes made in support must be communicated/coordinated back to the team.)
Strong work ethic, highly reliable
Desired Skills:
Experience in PERL, Versant, MySQL & PostgreSQL databases
***Codes, tests, debugs, documents, and installs new applications and programs
- Uses coding methods in specific programming languages to initiate or enhance program execution and functionality
- Monitor program execution for expected performance
- Respond to errors and emergencies within applications and programs
- Provide first-tier support to end users for IT applications
- Perform installation of code releases and patches and write scripts or programs for IT applications
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of databases and systems
- Complete the necessary documentation for business cases, process, analysis, functional requirements, and testing as needed
- Facilitate planning and functional design sessions to support requirements and business solutions.
- 4 year degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of Technical Support experience
- Experience in Wintel environment Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: mobility, telephony, networking.
