Job Description

Job Title : Oracle Applications DBA

Location : Princeton, NJ

Duration : 6+ months

Job Description: 

  • 7+ years experience of Oracle Apps Administration.
  • Performance Tuning experience.
  • 6 months experience with PostgreSQL (Enterprise DB) Database.
  • Experience in Oracle Database administration of Oracle 11g, 12c RAC databases is a big Plus.
  • Experience of Applications working with Development Teams.
  • Administrator in ver 9.x with PostgreSQL Advanced Server using Enterprise Manager and SQL analyzer.
  • Experienced with Redhat Linux commands, internals and shell scripting.
  • PostgreSQL administration, including: installation, initialization, authentication, catalog navigation, query/database tuning, resource contention analysis, backup and recovery, standby, replication, data export/import, and monitoring etc.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • PostgreSQL Replication and data encryption.
  • Proficient and experienced in using PSQL, PGDump, PGAdmin, SQL Developer tools and utilities.
  • Working Knowledge of Flyaway deployment tool and Remedy change management tool.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all  (Enterprise DB) Database Administration related activities for major ETS projects independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to participate and provide 24x7 On-Call Rotation support.
  • Strong capability and ability to resolve highly technical and complex database and infrastructure related issues on their own before they impact production and ETS business.
  • Provides technical expertise to the development of solutions for such items as DBMS tools and utilities usage, database administration, backup and recovery, database performance tuning and monitoring.
  • Performs database migrations, upgrades and structure migrations.
  • Ability to influence development organizations to comply with database best practices and ETS database standards and practices.
  • Fully utilizes CASE tools to develop, or modify, physical database designs from logical designs, using the logical design, discussion with the Data Analyst, application development reviews, and documented results from transaction access path analysis sessions as input.
  • Trouble-shoots database and/or software problems as they apply to design, implementation, or installation activities.
  • Schedules and coordinates database maintenance activities including such items as database reorganizations and restructures.
  • Coordinates and/or participates in database stress tests, analyzes results, and makes recommendations for design or coding changes based upon those results.
  • Participates in on-call, overnight off-hour production problem resolution activities.
  • Develops and maintains DBMS related standards and procedures, knows where they are located, and makes full use of them. Follows ETS software development processes.
  • Researches, evaluates, and tests new software and DBMS related tools and facilities as they pertain to the existing DBMS environment, database designs, procedures, and applications.
  • Monitors current DBMS performance and develops procedures, where necessary, to improve the DBMS environment as required.
  • Identifies and supports quality improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other assignments to comply with the SR&T corporate purpose and mission to add business value, increase revenue, decrease costs, improve productivity, and support the strategic initiative/directive.
  • Complies with all ETS security and audit standards. Ensures security of company information by ensuring database is secure and monitors environment to identify improper access.
