Job Description :
Required skills:
Knowledge of backup technologies and best practices used in large multi-tenant environments.
Knowledge and experience with backup and recovery concepts, techniques, and products.
Knowledge and experience with VMware backup integration.
Extensive knowledge of replication approaches, technologies, and products.
Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and administering EMC Networker, DataDomain, Avamar, and Data Protection Advisor, as well as Netbackup, BackupExec and Data Protection Manager (DPM).
Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and administering Networker Storage Nodes, Virtual Backup Appliances (VBAs).
Hands-on experience configuring, and administering HP Data Protector.
Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and administering StorageTek (SL8500 and SL500), HP, Quantum (i6000 and i500), and Dell tape libraries.
Task List:
Engineer and design creative solutions in a rapidly evolving environment.
Document and diagram designs, changes, and solutions.
Ensure pre-migration backup jobs are successful.
Provide decommissioning, un-racking, and re-racking of equipment as needed.
Configure fiber channel connected tape drives and libraries.
Establish backup jobs on destination systems.
Install backup agents.
Monitor and act on failed backup jobs.
Configure virtual backup appliances.
Run data protection reports.
Track migration progress.
Troubleshoot and resolve backup system failures and technical issues.
Ensure post-migration backup jobs are successful.
Perform other Backup and Recovery assistance to staff as directed.
