PROFILE SUMMARY
• This position would be involved with daily storage operational tasks such as provisioning, storage connectivity, storage allocation, incident problem
management and the implementation of changes to the storage operational infrastructure with existing IBM storages and forecasted Virtualization of storage environment with Hitachi storage.
MANDATORY SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Excellent understanding of administration and configuration of distributed storage technologies -- including SAN, NAS, DAS, RAID, SCSI, Fiber Channel, FCoE.
• In depth Experience with the following storages: IBM Storage Storwize Family -- V3700, V5000 and V7000; IBM XIV and SAN Volume Controller (SVC), IBM Flash 800,900 series Storage system, Cisco MDS and/or Brocade SAN switches.
• Build, tune and maintain SAN Fabric and Storage Systems in support of assigned business applications.
• Lead all aspects of the activities required to ensure the assigned Storage systems are available to the appropriate user community, as per SLA.
• Plan, manage, document and perform installations and upgrades the hardware, and firmware.
• Monitor performance, tune, and maintain historical performance data.
• In depth knowledge of snapshot creation and management in multiple storage systems.
• Develop and execute system recovery plan.
• Experience multi-pathing and load balancing technologies across different OS platforms.
• Understanding of data replication/mirroring strategies and technologies used for disaster recovery/high availability, including Global Mirror, Metro Mirror and Local Flash copies across globe.
• In-depth understanding of storage design techniques, theories, principles, new trends and best practices with IBM storages and other vendors.
• Experience with VMware ESX environments -- Creation and Maintenance of Data movers, Data Stores.
• Advanced Systems Hardware and Operating Systems knowledge and troubleshooting capability
• Experience with LPAR and Power Systems are added advantages. Perform SAN zoning configuration changes and allocate storage to specific servers/applications.
• Perform capacity planning, performance analysis and other needs assessments as requested by Client or upper management.
• Participate and/or lead in the planning, approval, and implementation of Change Management requests for storage environment.
• Troubleshoot/diagnose and resolve complex problems involving servers, SAN storage and SAN switches.
• Assist with detailed technical planning and forecasting for future initiatives and/or growth and update.
• Design, document and build infrastructure components related to storage solution requirements from application, systems and database teams.
• Perform on-going optimization of the systems to ensure adequate capacity, availability and scalability.
• Experience in working with global teams (onshore and offshore) is a must
