Role Summary:
As an application and solution architect for CLIENT Solutions you will specify and direct the technical architecture in order to facilitate design and implementation and constrain technical solutions, meet short term Product objectives and drive longer-range business and technical strategies. You will leverage your deep technical expertise to drive the development of technical patterns and standards that promote reuse, simplify the technical environment, improve efficiencies and reduce the cost and timescale of development and ongoing enhancements and maintenance. While the specific focus of this position is on mid-tier application architecture and modeling, you will use your experience and relationships within the organization to influence the design of and application integration with the client/web, database and related tiers. You will support multiple businesses within the CLIENT Solutions group, with focus on the Data business.
Primary relationships will be with other members of the IT Architecture team, developers throughout the Application Development (ADM) organizations, the Enterprise Infrastructure teams, and Product and Marketing leaders in multiple businesses in the CLIENT Core and Solutions groups.
Principal Responsibilities:
Design and document the architecture, make technology selections, and facilitate design decisions that enhance execution of projects on CLIENT’s Product Delivery Plan, by leveraging deep knowledge of the CLIENT Solutions businesses, products and services, particularly the Data business, your deep technical domain expertise, and collaboration with other architects and engineering teams. Assist and assure delivery of CLIENT’s wide range of functional requirements, support our business and technical strategies, and meet business requirements for security, usability, performance, scalability, capacity, availability, manageability and business continuity.
Work with architects and other technical leaders in the engineering teams to set direction and the technical framework for the applications and services within the CLIENT Solutions group, in was that support the technical strategy and architecture, and address critical issues and needs defined with the IT and Product and client-facing teams. Drive the specification of application solution design and implementation standards, and guide solution architectures, architectural patterns and standards through the governance and compliance process. Facilitate the implementation of those standards into re-usable web frameworks, libraries and components. Maintain conformance with established architectural principles and technical standards.
Lead design and implementation discussions and provide cross-product support to architects and execution teams in the areas of your technical expertise to promote consistency and reuse, improve conformance to standards, and promote consolidation of multiple technologies and technical implementations across products and platforms. Assist with migration planning and project execution which helps consolidate existing product capabilities.
Engage the CLIENT Solutions Product and Business Managers on the Business and Product strategy and with other architects in the IT Architecture Office on the overall technical strategy, periodically and as needed produce and refine the technical strategy, and translate these strategies into the technical architecture patterns, standards and frameworks that both guide and constrain implementation.
Drive proofs of concept and lead the creation of reference architectures that promote architecture direction and UX practice by proving that new UI technologies and design patterns work effectively to meet the User Experience, Client Experience, and other functional and non-functional objectives.
