Job description :

Required Skills: Ruby (Ruby on Rails).


The Development Engineer performs product design, bug verification, release testing, and beta support projects requiring research and analysis. This person will also develop, test, support, and modify customer facing business application systems and database systems, as well as document all systems designed and modified. 
The current platform is on Rails 2.3.x and moving to newer version of Rails x and/or jruby. 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
• Perform design, implementation, and maintenance of multiple product modules and systems 
• Perform complex bug verification, release testing, and beta support for assigned products 
• Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develop solutions 
• Conduct unit testing and integration testing for functionality 
• May serve as a product architect or assist in design, implementation and documentation of development 
Technical Responsibilities: 
• Accommodate demand by users, setting priorities when appropriate and escalate issues
• Collaborate with team members to review functional requirements and translate them into a system design 
• Assist Project Managers in developing implementation plans, including the scheduling of project milestones 
• Be responsible for the functional integrity and proper operation of all assigned systems
• Collaborate with Product Development Team in the design of all assigned systems; maintaining EFX design and development standards 
• Advocate for testing, testing best practices, testing methodologies, and discipline 
• Ensure test coverage of new and existing features 
• Keeping abreast on latest tools, trends, and methodologies 
Professionalism: 
• Accurately communicate project development status to EFX Management 
• Self-driven, proactive 
• Maintain the highest level of integrity, courtesy, respect, and professionalism while interacting with, project team members, EFX employees, and business contacts 
• Provide timely, detailed, and accurate accounting for all time charged to each project 
Requirements: 
• Bachelor’s degree in business, software engineering or computer science and 3-5 years of technical experience in software design and product support 
• Thorough technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation 
• Experience in Agile Methodology 
• 3+ Years of experience working with Ruby on Rails 
• Exposure to PostgresSQL and working knowledge of ANSI SQL 
• Exposure to Service Oriented Architecture 
• Exposure to distributed Queues and Cron for reporting and background tasks 
• Knowledge of Cucumber features, and BehaviorDrivenDevelopment 
• Comfortable deploying applications on Linux, using Capistrano, Puppet or Chef 
• Knowledge of UI development using Flex is added advantage 
• Open source experience a plus 
• Obsessive about quality 
• Exposure to CI tools such as Cruise Control, Jenkins, Bamboo, Team City
