SUMMARY:
Maintains and coordinates functions of databases, including establishing new databases, oversight of project requests, change management efforts and documentation. The DBA is expected to write code in T-SQL and c#, develop packages in SQL Server Information Services, manage IT projects and establish policies for the development life cycle.
Job Duties:
Maintains and coordinates function of the databases: - Tests programs or database, correcting errors and making modifications, as necessary. - Schedules and conducts regular testing to ensure the database functions as expected. - Coordinates maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and installation. - Troubleshoots, tracks, and assists with the resolution of issues as they arise. - Selects and administers security measures to protect files against unauthorized modification or disclosure. - Specifies user access levels for each segment of databases. - Works closely with network administrators to ensure backups are taken and stored.
Establishes new databases and implements new software: - Determines project scope and limitations, and time and cost requirements. - Assists in the development and testing of new databases and software integration. - Schedules and plans approved installation of new products and improvements to systems. - Writes and codes logical and physical database descriptions.
Project management and change requests:
- Reviews database change requests and estimates time and cost requirements of changes. - Upon approval, modifies existing databases to better meet user needs. - Assists in the development of procedures for making changes to database management systems. - Develops methods to ensure successful integration of different products, as necessary. - Responsible for scheduling and performing migration of databases and code to the Production and QA environments.
Other Duties:
- Trains users and answers questions related to database usage and changes. - Handles multiple project responsibilities simultaneously, while prioritizing the work load and resolving technical emergencies as they may occur. - Performs additional duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 2-5 years of experience in the field. Must be fluent in both T-SQL and c# development languages. At least 3 years of experience development packages with SQL Server Information Services is required. Ability to effectively troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of employees.
